Whatcom County Emergency Communications Group (WECG) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit nonpublic agency.
Although we work with the Sheriff’s Department, we don’t receive public funding . We depend on community support and donations to operate. Most of the equipment used for search and rescue is personally owned and maintained by members of the various units. The WECG members are all volunteers. Funding is provided by donations. WECG or it’s members do not solicit phone donations. WECG and its units are a legitimate and recognized search and rescue team within Whatcom County’s jurisdiction. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
